At GAIA: The Earth Foundation, we believe that every discarded bottle, wrapper, or plastic bag carries within it the potential to build something beautiful — something that gives back to the Earth. Benches for Change is our initiative to transform plastic waste into sturdy, eco-friendly benches that symbolize sustainability and shared community spaces.

Over the years, this movement has transformed what once polluted our planet into products that serve it. Together, we’ve captured an astonishing 6,581 kilograms of plastic, converting it into 13,162 kilograms of unWOOD — our sustainable alternative to timber.Each kilogram represents a small victory: less plastic in landfills, fewer trees cut down, and a cleaner tomorrow, and with over 329 benches crafted so far, these aren’t just seats — they’re stories of change placed across schools, offices, and public spaces.

Every time we use unWOOD, we prevent another tree from being felled. So far, this initiative has already saved 22 trees — and counting. But the true impact goes beyond numbers; it lies in the message each bench carries:
